The name Bendre originated from ” BEEDAR” Mawala Province from Madhya Pradesh. Bendre’s are from the Chandaseniya Kayastha Prabhu (CKP) community (this surname is also found in the Brahmin community)

From Mawala Province, 36 CKP families (Bendre, Pradhan, Gupte, Dalvi, Chawale, Garude, Chitre, Jayvant, Nachane, Phanase, Mohile, Tamhane, Gadkari, Teware, Vakhare, Bhise, Likhite, Kamte, Satpute, Jawale, Tavkar, Vaidhya, Deopare, Bahire, Sule, Patne, Pangu, Korde, Tungari, Narkar, Dhighe, Randive, Raje, Kshipre, Skrukale, Durve, and Khatik) migrated towards Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka.

From Maharashtra, some families went and settled in Rajasthan. Damodar Ganesh Bendre settled in Khalapur and was given “Jahagiri” by the British Empire of Khalapur. Damodar’s son Vaman was rewarded land for 100 years in Deolali Cantonment by the British Empire, and he moved there from Khalapur. His descendants were born in Deolali. Over the period of time, decedents moved to different places in Maharashtra.
